      A PLEA

I flocked like sheep
From school to school
Carrying my treasure in a file
To mortgage it for a meagre 200 to 300
At last the chance came
To enter the fold
Where I entrusted my papers
for a better 350
I say better only comparatively.
Well this is my present lot.
I shall prove worthy of it.
You know I am a teacher
Feel assured I am mot a preacher.
With some Utopian ideals I opted this profession
But the practical difficulties dragged me into a world of confusion.
“I go thinking of mine own distorted ideals
And that of those demons who claim to be human beings.”
Sorry I quoted a modern son of muse whose lines fail to amuse.
I am emotionally alive in every fiber as a teacher
I try to be intellectually skilful and morally honest too.
A teacher is one who guides the little spirits
By the radiant vigor of his guiding spirit.
A teacher is a torch bearer we read
He lights the path of young ones to tread.
A teacher’s  duty is to mould the budding minds.
Without offending their original talents.
A teacher is there to give inspiration
And lead  the students on the path of creation.
A teacher is a philosopher who not only preaches
But by practicing sets an example  to the followers.
You may think all these are only in theory
But it’s up to us to put them into practice.
For nothing is impossible in the hands of human beings
Especially in the hands of teachers.
I feel, you incline to ask me
Whether I am one in the crew.
Sorry, I am not. But I am trying to be one.
Why not you too lend your willing hands
To be the same my dear friends.
